‘You Ain’t Listenin’: Charlamagne Scolds Undecided Voter For Saying He Hasn’t Heard ‘Policies’ From Harris
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God chastised an undecided voter named Jason on Tuesday over his assertion that he had not heard “policies” from Vice President Kamala Harris during her campaign.
Pollster Frank Luntz said on Thursday that Harris bears responsibility for voters’ uncertainty about her policy agenda if she becomes president. Charlamagne, however, suggested on “The Breakfast Club” that Jason was at fault for not paying enough attention to Harris’ statements when he called into the show. “The two times I voted in my 45 years of life, the person that I voted for won popular vote, yet didn’t win the election, those two people being [former Vice President Al] Gore and [former Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton,” Jason said.
Charlamagne said he understood but asked Jason if he had cast a ballot for former President Barack Obama when he ran, with the caller saying “of course” he didn’t.
“It’s similar with Kamala. I wasn’t hearing anything about policies,” Jason said.
Charlamagne retorted that Jason must not be “listening” to Harris, but the caller asserted he listens “very hard.”
The radio host said “there’s no way” Jason listens if he hasn’t heard her policy platform.
“I’m from the city where Martin Luther King gave his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech for the first time, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, which Trump visited last week,” Jason said. “I was born in the Bronx, which Trump also visited. Trump is talking about removing fluoride from our drinking water — that is a very important thing.”
“That conversation on Election Day morning — you still ain’t heard no policy? You ain’t listenin’, my brother, respectfully,” Charlamagne said.
Some undecided voters and focus groups have expressed concerns regarding Harris’ policies as she has flip-flopped on many since her 2020 presidential run. CNN’s Dana Bash in September suggested that voters may be holding Harris to an unfair standard by demanding more policy specifics from her than Trump.
“You hear time and time again, the question from focus groups, from undecided voters, but what about her policies?” Bash said. “What, what is that about? Because he, yes, he was president, but he hasn’t really super articulated his economic policies for a second term besides tax cuts.”
Trump currently holds small leads over Harris in five of the top seven swing states, while the vice president is slightly ahead in Michigan and Wisconsin, according to the RealClearPolling averages.
