Voter Trust: Dems Lead Again on Economy, Inflation

• For the second straight month, voters trust Democrats more on the Economy, a longtime Republican stronghold.
  • Four in 10 voters (39%) say they trust the Democrat party more on the Economy. This is the same as last month.
  • About a third (34%) say they trust the Republican party more. This is down 2 points from last month and down 9 points from February.
• Similarly, on Inflation, 38% of voters trust Democrats more, and 35% trust Republicans more, essentially unchanged from last month.
  • Republicans lead by as many as 7 points on this issue, but the war in Iran has had a major impact on voter perceptions.
• As the Iran war lingers on, National Security has risen to the third top issue.
  • Republicans have a 5-point advantage, with 40% trusting them more than Democrats (who are at 35%).
  • Still, in March, Republicans led by 16 points at 45%, and Democrats were only at 29%.
• Voters are essentially split on President Trump’s signature issue: immigration.
  • They hold a 1-point edge for the second straight week (40% to 39%) after leading by 12% in March.
• Finally, for the second month in a row, Democrats also lead on the question of which party voters trust on their personal most important issue: 39% to 36%.
  • This question has been a tossup for some time, with Republicans holding narrow margins until last week’s Democratic advantage of plus 6.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 26-27, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
