Trump’s Approval on Key Issues Sinks Even Lower

On the top issues of the day, President Trump’s numbers continue downward. Several issues have hit their lowest numbers of the president’s second term.
- Just 30% approve of how he’s handling Inflation.
  - This is down 2 points from a month ago and down 18 from the beginning of his second term.
- On the Economy (the top issue for voters), just 37% approve of the president’s handling.
  - This number is the same as in April, and down 10 from the beginning of his second term.
  - A solid majority (62%) disapprove, including 49% who Strongly Disapprove.
- Amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, 48% approve of Trump’s handling of National Security.
  - Again, the lowest of Trump’s second term: the same as it was a month ago and down 3 from when we started measuring that issue on its own in August.
  - Just over half (52%) disapprove of the handling of National Security.
Another important issue is Immigration, and 48% approve of Trump’s handling in that area.
- This is down 1 point from April.
- About half (52%) disapprove, including 40% who Strongly Disapprove.
Regarding Healthcare, just 39% approve of Trump’s handling.
- This is down 1 point from April, and down 4 points from March.
- Six in 10 voters (58%) disapprove of Trump’s handling of Healthcare, including 44% who Strongly Disapprove.
- Interestingly, only 4% recently rated Healthcare as most important in an open-ended question last week, and 10% said it was most important compared to other categories a few weeks ago.
Being the party in the White House, large majorities of Republicans approve of President Trump’s handling of every issue, and Democrats largely disapprove.
- For example, 82% of Republicans approve of Trump’s handling of Immigration, but 81% of Democrats disapprove.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 20-21, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
