Top DOGE Administrator Revealed by New York Times to be Nashville Woman

The top administrator at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was revealed on Tuesday by The New York Times to be Amy Gleason, a Nashville woman who seems to have previously worked as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Digital Service (USDS), which was renamed DOGE after Elon Musk was made a special government employee.

According to The Timesa White House official confirmed Gleason’s identity as legacy media outlets sought answers about DOGE’s leadership in response to the Trump administration confirming Musk does not lead the government agency. The outlet described Gleason as “the temporary leader of what is formally known as the U.S. DOGE Service.”

It also reported that Gleason’s identity was published as the government official prepared to vacation out of the country and that the release of her name came as a surprise.

A LinkedIn profile for Gleason lists her employment as a senior advisor for USDS. However, she previously spent three years at the agency as a digital services expert, beginning during the first Trump administration. She left the job in December 2021, less than one year into the Biden presidency.

Gleason, according to a White House biography written during the Obama administration, became convinced of the capability of technology to streamline healthcare services after her daughter was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder.

In January 2020, Gleason delivered a Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) Talk speech on the subject, in which she described how technology could help doctors better understand the needs of their patients and help those seeking medical help become better advocates.

Her LinkedIn profile shows that after leaving the USDS in 2021, Gleason was the chief product officer at the Nashville-based Main Street Health, which specializes in healthcare investments in rural parts of the United States, where The Hill notes Brad Smith is a top executive. The Associated Press reported that Smith has similarly been involved with DOGE.

It also shows she graduated from Brentwood High School and the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

Gleason’s identity was revealed by The Times only days after the arrest of an Ashland City man who police said told friends he was planning to bomb Musk’s xAI facility in Memphis. Police additionally allege the suspect, who reportedly works as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Nashville, purchased the supplies needed to create an explosive compound.
