‘That’s Bullsh*t’: Anderson Cooper Fires Back After Charlamagne Claims CNN Doesn’t Discuss Trump’s ‘Rhetoric’ Enough
CNN’s Anderson Cooper pushed back on radio host Charlamagne Tha God Thursday after he claimed the network doesn’t call out former President Donald Trump’s “rhetoric” enough.
Since 2019, corporate media and Democratic lawmakers have labeled Trump a Nazi and Hitler and called for him to be locked up. On “Anderson Cooper 360,” Charlamagne told Cooper that he hasn’t heard networks call Trump “a fascist” enough, instead focusing more on Vice President Kamala Harris statements.
“I don’t think y’all have enough conversations about it. I feel like I heard more on this network about, ‘Is Kamala Harris black?’ Than I do about Donald Trump being a fascist. Am I wrong Angela?” Charlamagne questioned.
“Honestly, that’s bullshit. I’m sorry. “Look, I’m a huge fan of yours, but to say that we‘re sitting around discussing ‘Is Kamala Harris black? Like — ” Cooper said before the radio host interrupted.
Charlamagne pushed back against Cooper, calling out his “bullshit” and stating that he has seen the conversation happen during roundtable discussions. Cooper, however, continued defending his network, stating that his main issue is with surrogates “who come out and just spout talking points.”
“I don’t think any anchor on this network has been going around saying, ‘Is she black?’ Anderson said. “Look, I‘m sure we have had nutty people or people who have strongly held beliefs who I may disagree with. Who somewhere on some panel may have said something, but I will just speak up for what I do on the show. I do believe it‘s important to get people different viewpoints as long as they are willing to have a legitimate conversation. What I don‘t like are surrogates who come out and just spout talking points that they don‘t even believe and those are people I tried to eliminate from having ever [been] on the air again.”

“I think no network has honest conversations about Donald Trump,” Charlamagne responded. “Nobody‘s had an honest conversation about Donald Trump since 2016. I saw last night, they were talking about the double standard that exists between Donald Trump and the vice president, but it‘s always a double standard with Trump, whether it‘s Hillary, whether it‘s, you know, against Biden. Now, with Kamala you talk about him being a threat to democracy, but we don‘t treat him like one.”
Cooper appeared shocked as he stammered, expressing disbelief that Trump supporters were watching CNN to be “validated” in their opinions of the former president.
Earlier this week, President Joe Biden called for Trump to be locked up during an event at a New Hampshire Democratic National Committee (DNC) office, quickly clarifying that he meant “politically locked up.” Harris also labeled the former president a fascist during her CNN town hall event with Cooper on Wednesday, claiming she believes that “the people who know him best on this subject should be trusted.”
