Tennessee Republicans Vote with Majority to Advance President Trump’s ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’
All eight Republican members representing Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives voted with the majority Thursday morning to pass the “One Big Beautiful Act.”
The 1,018-page bill, which passed the House by a narrow 215-214 vote, includes key agenda items pushed by President Donald Trump, including tax cuts, no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime, border security measures, funding for the “Golden Dome for America,” Money Accounts for Growth and Advancement for newborn babies, expanded work requirements for Medicaid, eliminating the $200 tax on gun silencers, and more.
Every Republican member in the House voted to advance the bill with the exception of three not voting or present votes and two no votes which came from Kentucky U.S. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY-04) and Ohio U.S. Representative Warren Davidson (R-OH-08).

The bill was not supported by any Democratic members.
Tennessee U.S. Representatives Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01), Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03), Scott DesJarlais (R-TN-04), and David Kustoff (R-TN-08) all said they were “proud” to support the bill and deliver on advancing the president’s agenda.
Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN-02), in a video posted to X, said that while the bill didn’t include everything he wanted, including more spending cuts, the legislation’s expanded work requirements for Medicaid and “relief from overregulation” were big enough wins for him.
Congressman John Rose (R-TN-06) shared a similar sentiment, saying that while the bill is “not perfect,” it “gets Congress’ job out of the way and puts [President Trump] in the driver’s seat.”
House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN-07) championed the bill’s funding for border security, saying that the funds will “finish the border barrier system and provide crucial resources to help Border Patrol agents and Customs and Border Protection officers carry out their missions and continue President Trump’s proven border security agenda.”
Following the bill’s passage, Trump called on the U.S. Senate to work quickly in order to send the legislation to his desk “as soon as possible,” adding, “There is no time to waste.”
