Support for Iran Unchanged; Optimism Lowers

- The number who believe regime change is not likely to happen has stayed steady, dropping 1 point to 29%.
- Republicans say regime change is likely by a 65% to 16% margin.
- Democrats are split: 42% say it is likely, while 39% disagree.
- However, while 35% of Republicans say it is Very Likely, just 16% of Democrats agree.
- As Scott Rasmussen explained in a recent briefing, while voters’ minds can be changed, speed is critical to voter support.
- Among voters who say the attacks will be successful in bringing about regime change, a majority (53%) say that it will take at least a few months.
- This is longer than President Trump’s initial stated timeline, though that has since shifted.
- Another 37% say it will take a few weeks or less.
- In addition, while Trump has not ruled out “boots on the ground,” American voters are firmly against the idea.
- Just 31% of voters favor sending in U.S. ground troops if necessary, while 55% are opposed.
- Those numbers include just 9% who Strongly Favor the idea, while 34% Strongly Oppose it.
- Trump-policy voters are the only group with a majority (56%) in favor of the idea.
- Overall, President Trump’s ratings on the situation in Iran are close to his support numbers for the attacks: 42% approve of his handling of the situation, and 49% do not.
- Those numbers include 22% who Strongly Approve, while 35% Strongly Disapprove.
- As expected, the breakdowns follow party lines.
