Seven out of Ten Voters Regularly Use Social Media To Get News

  • Seventy-one percent (71%) regularly use social media in order to get their news.
    • Another fourteen percent (14%) report using social media rarely, while only thirteen percent (13%) report never using social media to learn about the news.
  • Eighty percent (80%) of voters believe there is a lot of inaccurate information on social media.
    • Only ten percent (10%) disagree.
  • Even with the widespread belief social media information is often inaccurate, just 34% believe the government should be allowed to censor speech on social media.
    • Nearly half (48%) say they should not, while almost a fifth (18%) are unsure.
  • Voters are more conflicted on if social media is good or bad for America.
    • 43% of voters believe social media is good for America, while 41% believe it is bad.
