Senator Marsha Blackburn’s Resolution Condemning Violence Against Electric Vehicles Blocked by Democrats
Democratic members blocked Thursday a resolution sponsored by U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) condemning violence against electric vehicles.
Blackburn’s two-page resolution, filed as S.Res.146, would have put senators on record of whether or not they condemn “the horrific acts of violence, arson, and domestic terrorism committed against electric vehicles, car dealerships, and charging stations throughout the United States.”

The resolution cites the “numerous violent attacks on electric vehicles, car dealerships, and charging stations” seen across the country in recent weeks before noting how the Department of Justice has since charged three individuals for “violent destruction of Tesla properties, including 1 individual who—armed with an assault rifle—threw 8 Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership.”
“All acts of violence are entirely unacceptable in the United States,” the resolution adds.
Tesla vehicles and showrooms across the nation have been targeted in recent weeks by violent attacks and protests organized by left-wing groups who oppose the involvement of Elon Musk – Tesla’s CEO – in the Trump administration as he oversees the new U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In Nevada, for example, police on Thursday announced the arrest of a 36-year-old man on suspicion of third-degree arson, property destruction, shooting a gun into a vehicle, and possession of an explosive or flammable device in connection to the March 18 attack at a Tesla service center which saw multiple vehicles shot and firebombed with Molotov cocktails.
The U.S. Department of Justice has also announced it is investigating the attacks on Tesla vehicles as “domestic terrorism.”
While speaking on the Senate floor, Blackburn criticized her Democratic colleagues’ opposition to her resolution condemning violence against electric vehicles.
“I think it’s important to note that the resolution I presented does not mention Elon Musk…But because Elon is helping President Trump, he has become a target for the radical Left—which has launched a domestic terrorism campaign against his company, Tesla,” Blackburn said.
“The U.S. Senate should be able to stand up to violence and support law and order and today, [Democrats] are stopping us from doing that,” Blackburn added.
