President Trump Calls on Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn to Ensure Passage of ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’
President Donald Trump called on Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) to ensure the U.S. Senate works to pass the “big, beautiful bill” during an event at the White House Wednesday.
Trump, while speaking at an event marking the first 100 days of his administration which hosted the nation’s top business leaders, called out Blackburn, who was in the audience, and jokingly said he would “blame” her if such legislation fails to advance in the Senate.

“Marsha, you’re in there working very hard and doing well, what do you think, are we going to get [the bill] passed? We have to,” Trump said.
“Marsha, if we don’t get it passed, I’m blaming you. We have to get it passed. We will,” Trump added.
Blackburn posted the moment on X, commenting, “Yes, Mr. President. We will get this Big Beautiful Bill passed so we can hit the ground running to implement the America First agenda.”
Trump has been consistently calling on Congress to pass one “big, beautiful bill” to “unleash a soaring economy, surging jobs market, manufacturing boom, and prosperity like never before” through extending the 2017 Trump tax cuts, exempting tips, overtime, and seniors’ Social Security from taxes, and other measures like boosting funding for immigration enforcement and the military, advancing Trump’s energy policies, and carrying out massive federal spending cuts.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04), calling the bill “necessary, important, and timely,” said he believes the House is on track to deliver the legislation to the Senate by Memorial Day.
“We want to move this aggressively because it will stabilize the markets, it will turbo boost the economy, it will restore the ‘peace through strength’ principle, and it will show the country that Republicans are serious, that they made the right choice,” Johnson said.
