Ohio Treasurer Leaves Gubernatorial Race, Endorses Ramaswamy

Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague left the Ohio Governor’s race on Wednesday and endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy.

“Should he enter the race for governor, I am going to support Vivek and his run for governor because I support his intellect, his drive, [and] outsider mentality to reform our state,” the treasurer said.

Ramaswamy has not announced his run for governor; however, media reports say that he will make an announcement soon.

The former presidential candidate stepped down from the Department of Government Efficiency last month.

In his video, Sprague (pictured above) said Ramaswamy wants to turn Ohio around and “create a Renaissance” in the state.

“I hope you will join me in supporting Vivek Ramaswamy for governor,” he said.

Instead of running for governor, Sprague will run for Secretary of State.

“Ohio is not broken, but there are things in Columbus that needs to be fixed,” he said.

National Republicans have already started to endorse Ramaswamy for Ohio Governor.

Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Rick Scott (R-FL) threw their support behind him this week.

“It’s been such a pleasure getting to know [Ramaswamy] and work with him,” wrote Blackburn on X. “The people of Ohio would be well served by his leadership, and if he chooses to run, he’ll have my full support.”

Lee said on X, “If [Ramaswamy] runs for governor of Ohio (and I hope he does) he will not only win—he will transform Ohio for the better. The results will benefit Ohioans—and Americans—for generations. I’m honored to have worked with [Ramaswamy], and I support him wholeheartedly.”

Scott, in his endorsement, said he worked closely with Ramaswamy who he described as “focused on trying to save our country.”

“He is a business guy who understands what’s needed to grow jobs, make government efficient and help families prosper,” he said. “He would be a fantastic Governor and I hope he runs for Governor of Ohio. If he runs, he has my full support and endorsement.”

Internal polling for the Republican nominee for Ohio Governor showed Ramaswamy in the lead.
