Muskegon County Clerks: Some Ballots Missing After Post Office Break-in
MUSKEGON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Clerks in Muskegon County say some absentee ballots did not make it to their offices after a post box break-in last week.
Officials say someone damaged the post box outside the Twin Lake Post Office between 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 and 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28. A voter alerted the Blue Lake Township Clerk about possible missing mail from the box.
The post office does not know how much mail was taken, or what type of mail was taken.
Election officials say anyone who dropped their ballot in the Twin Lake Post Office box during the last week-and-a-half should check their ballot’s status online or call their local clerk.
Meanwhile, early in-person voting continues in Michigan through Sunday. Polls open on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 a.m.
