Majority Wants DST To Be Permanent

  • A majority (62%) of registered voters favor a bill that was recently proposed to make daylight savings time permanent, meaning the clocks would not change later this year.
    • Thirty-eight percent (38%) strongly favor the bill.
    • Just 22% oppose the bill, and 15% are not sure.
    • More Republicans (73%) than Democrats (57%) favor making daylight savings time permanent.
    • Fewer Independents (42%) favor the bill.
  • Interestingly, after learning that studies reveal that heart attacks, strokes, car crashes, and hospital admissions all increase when the clocks change, support did not increase.
    • A majority (63%) favor making daylight savings time permanent.
    • Just 23% oppose the idea, and 13% are not sure.
    • The numbers for Republicans, Democrats, and Independent voters were also consistent with the original numbers above.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, June 1-2, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
