Majority Says U.S. Has More Influence Than China

• More than half (57%) of voters say that the United States has the most influence in the world.
  • Just 12% say China has the most influence.
  • Slightly more (18%) say both countries have about the same amount of influence in the world.
  • More Republicans (69%) than Democrats (48%) say the U.S. has the most influence.
• Looking ahead 10 years, 39% say the U.S. will still have the most influence, but 24% say China will have the most in 10 years.
  • Fifteen percent (15%) say the 2 countries will have about equal influence.
  • One-fifth (22%) are not sure.
  • Looking ahead 10 years, a majority of Republicans (54%) say the U.S. will have the most influence, while 16% say China will be more influential.
  • Democrats are split: 32% say China will have the most influence in 10 years, and 29% say the U.S. will.
  • Four in 10 postgraduates (41%) say China will have the most influence in 10 years, and just 22% say the U.S. will keep that title.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 18-19, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
