Majorities Choose Clean Air, Energy Independence Above Climate Change

• Six in 10 voters (61%) say providing clean air and water is more important than preventing climate change.
  • While down 7 points from March 2025, the number saying fighting climate change is more important is just 1 point higher than last March, at 28%.
  • One in 10 (11%) are Not Sure.
  • By a 75% to 17% margin, Republicans overwhelmingly say providing clean air and water is more important than preventing climate change.
  • A majority of Democrats agree, but by a smaller margin (52% to 37%).
• Similarly, a majority (52%) say making America energy independent is more important than fighting climate change.
  • This is down 5 points from March 2025, but up 4 points from January of 2023.
  • About one third (36%) say that fighting climate change is more important, also down 3 points from last March.
  • Still, 13% are Not Sure.
  • More Republicans (75%) than Democrats (31%) say that making America energy independent is more important.
  • Half (54%) of Democrats say fighting climate change is more important, and 14% are Not Sure.
