Is the US in a Recession? 38% Believe So

• Almost 4 in 10 voters (38%) say the country is currently in a recession, the same as 2 weeks ago and up 1 point from a month ago.
  • Thirty-six percent (36%) say the U.S. is not in a recession, down 1 point from 2 weeks ago.
  • One quarter (26%) are Not Sure.
  • A slim majority of Democrats (50%) say the U.S. is in a recession, while only 22% disagree.
  • Twenty-three percent (23%) of Republicans say the country is in a recession, but 57% disagree.
• Among the 38% who say the U.S. is in a recession, 71% say it will not end in the next 6 months.
  • Conversely, among the 36% of voters who say we are not in a recession, 59% say the U.S. will not enter a recession in the next 6 months.
  • As always, the party in power is more optimistic.
