Indecisive Dixon: Former GOP Gov Candidate ‘Considering Run For Michigan Governor or U.S. Senate’
LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former GOP gubernatorial candidate and current conservative podcaster Tudor Dixon can’t seem to make up her mind.
In a bizarre press release sent out on Tuesday afternoon, Dixon said, “I want to do the most good for our beloved state. That’s why I’m considering a run for governor or U.S. Senate. Both races present unique opportunities and different ways to benefit Michigan.”
Dixon did not declare candidacy, nor did she turn down the possibility of another run for state office. She did add,
“I will decide soon where my experience and talents would most benefit the state we love so dearly.”
Empty email.
This begs the question as to why Dixon and her campaign advisors felt the need for a non-announcement announcement in the first place. Dixon’s first foray into politics ended with an 11-point loss to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2022. Prior to that she worked in broadcasting and for her father’s steel foundry.
Dixon does have people in her corner. “Please do run. Michigan needs you,” wrote one commentor on Dixon’s Facebook page. Another chimed in, “We need your skills and passion in both the governors office and in the senate, but since you can’t clone yourself, you would make the biggest impact as governor.”
Meanwhile, others have declared any attempt at a run for office died when Dixon sent the press release. James David Dickson, host of The Enjoyer Podcast, referred to Dixon as an unserious candidate and called her announcement “an embarrassment.”
This is an embarrassment
There was no need to announce anything until you decided

Others expressed similar sentiments. One commentor said, “Respectfully, no” when referring to Dixon’s consideration of both races. “This announcement alone shows Tudor is already not getting good advice and still isn’t ready for a statewide race. You can’t put out a wishy-washy announcement like this.”
Another person commented, “I like Tudor a lot. But she can’t win with her abortion stand. She believes in no exceptions. And in Michigan, you can’t win with that stance. And I’m pro-life.”
Money leftover.
After Dixon won the 2022 August primary, her campaign failed to address the mounting television ads and claims from the Whitmer campaign that Dixon did not support abortion exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. Some speculate the radio silence regarding this issue marked one of the main reasons Dixon lost in 2022.
After Dixon’s failed gubernatorial bid, she had $502,518 left in her campaign coffers. She came under fire from the Michigan Department of State after donating those funds to a nonprofit organization called The Education Action Group, managed by her friend and consultant, Kyle Olson. Tax deductions for charitable must go to a 501(c)(3), not a 501(c)(4), as The Education Action Group is listed.
Eventually, Dixon and Olson went into business together and established “The Midwesterner” publication.
Last year, Dixon bumped the remaining funds to Texas-based Transparency USA.
Where is the Michigan GOP?
While Michigan turned red and earmarked its 15 electoral votes for President Donald Trump on Nov. 5, 2024, the Republican party in Michigan is still licking its wounds from the non-red wave three years ago. The Michigan GOP, under the leadership of Ron Weiser and Meshawn Maddock in 2022, did little to help Dixon win the governor spot. Leadership fractured one year later with Kristina Karamo’s election and her subsequent ouster of MI GOP leadership.
Pete Hoekstra oversaw the Michigan GOP victory in November, and is now up for an ambassadorship in the Trump administration. Newly installed leader Senator Jim Runestad has not updated the MI GOP website.
Michigan has many critical races on the ballot in 2026, including an open U.S. Senate seat, Congressional representation, and the state’s top positions.
