‘He Comes Across Remarkably Dorky’: Charlie Kirk Doesn’t Think This Potential 2028 Dem Candidate Has Shot At White House

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk dismissed Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania as a threat to win the White House during a Wednesday appearance on “2Way Tonight.”

Then-Vice President Kamala Harris bypassed Shapiro for Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota when choosing a running mate in the 2024 presidential campaign. Kirk told “2Way Tonight” host Mark Halperin that Shapiro’s biggest problem was that he might come across as awkward to voters. “Do you think Governor Shapiro would be formidable?” Halperin asked Kirk, after Kirk dismissed Walz, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, among others.

“No,” Kirk responded quickly, with Halperin asking, “No? Why not?”

Shapiro collaborated with The Trevor Project to target mental health professionals who did not start the process of child sex changes when counseling children through state licensing boards, bypassing the state Legislature, a move that drew praise from LGBTQ activists. The group targeted individual therapists, particularly those affiliated with Christian groups, according to emails obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Well, I suppose from the sense from Pennsylvania, but he comes across remarkably dorky,” Kirk said. “Maybe that’s what people want.”
