Former Clinton Pollster Warns Trump’s Growing Appeal Among Minority Voters Could Topple Dems’ Blue Wall
Former President Bill Clinton’s one-time pollster Doug Schoen said Thursday on Fox News that former President Donald Trump’s growing appeal among minority voters could topple the Democratic stronghold in key battleground states.
In an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s ” The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News, Schoen laid bare the shifts in voter dynamics that could destabilize long-standing Democratic strongholds in key battleground states. He raised concerns about the weakening ‘blue wall,’ which includes traditionally Democratic strongholds like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, showing signs of faltering support.
“I think what we’re seeing is the working class vote is moving in the direction of Trump. Non -college educated voters, blue collar men, are all moving in Trump’s direction,” Schoen told Ingraham. “Some movement, as you suggested, Laura, among minorities in Wisconsin, African Americans, to Trump.”

This shift isn’t confined to Wisconsin as Schoen identified similar trends in Michigan and pointed out the South’s realignment, with states like Georgia, North Carolina and Arizona trending toward Trump.
“Basically, the blue wall in Wisconsin and Michigan is eroding as the South, defined as Georgia, North Carolina, Southwest Arizona, appear to be trending Trump,” Schoen continued. “We’re looking now at five states, five swing states, that are potentially Trump’s.”
He emphasized that if Pennsylvania, another key state, swings in Trump’s favor, it could decisively end the race.
“If Pennsylvania goes, the election is over, all the trends are showing the same movement. It’s not over, you’re right, but it sure is moving Trump’s direction,” Schoen explained.
In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden secured the presidency with substantial support from Hispanic and black voters, replicating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s coalition and capturing 92% of the black vote, Pew Research Center reported. A recent AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll revealed that while roughly 70% of black registered voters held a favorable view of Vice President Kamala Harris, they remain uncertain about her potential to positively change the country.
Trump garnered increasing support among blue-collar voters, with a 31-point lead among trade school graduates and a 17-point rise among non-white, non-college educated voters since 2020. Meanwhile, Harris struggled to maintain her foothold with union voters, only securing a nine-point lead, a contrast to the double-digit advantages held by previous Democratic nominees.
Recent polls from Michigan News Source and MIRS indicate Trump leads in Michigan, boosting his odds to 58.8% for an Electoral College win against Harris. This marks a significant shift from earlier tight races reported by The New York Times and Siena College in this critical battleground from September.
