DeSantis Warns Dems Playing ‘Dangerous Game’ For ‘Stirring Up’ Division In Country Out of ‘Desperation’

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday on Fox News that the Democrats are playing a “dangerous game” by deliberately inciting division and fear among Americans as a political strategy.

During an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” DeSantis argued that the Democrats’ portrayal of former President Donald Trump as a modern-day authoritarian is a prime example of their “dangerous game.” DeSantis pointed out that such comparisons are not only inaccurate but also divisive.

“You look at what they’ve done from the beginning. Even more recently, their closing arguments seem to be that Donald Trump is like Hitler, like a fascist. He was president for four years,” DeSantis told Watters. “What they are doing is really stirring up, I think, a lot of division in this country.”

The Florida governor suggested that telling voters that “American democracy will end if Donald Trump is president” contributes to the current social unrest.

“You can see why you have some of the problems we have and some of the things that have been stirred up amongst the populace. I think it’s a dangerous game that they are playing. I think it is born out of desperation. I don’t think it’s going to work,” DeSantis concluded.

During her closing arguments Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris labeled Trump as “obsessed with revenge,” a “petty tyrant,” and someone who would misuse the military against his adversaries if he returned to the White House for another term. She emphasized that Trump sought “unchecked power” and maintained an enemies list, using the historical significance of her speech’s location to underscore her points.

Former Obama adviser Tommy Vietor also expressed concerns about Harris’s final remarks on Trump, warning that her branding Trump as a fascist could repel undecided swing voters. He criticized the recent surge in media and campaign efforts to compare Trump to Hitler, citing former chief of staff John Kelly’s statements to The New York Times and The Atlantic about Trump’s alleged admiration for authoritarian figures.
