Democrats up 7 on Generic Governor’s Ballot Amid Inflation Concerns

• In Wisconsin, if the election for Governor were held today, 50% of voters would vote for the Democrat and 43% would vote for the Republican.
  • If leaners are removed, Democrats lead by a 48% to 41% margin.
• Even worse news for the Republicans is the fact that Democrats lead by an astronomical 20 points among those who are Very Enthusiastic about voting.
  • This group is often a good indicator of Likely Voter turnout.
• The reason for Democratic lead is not hard to find: more than 9 in 10 voters say they have seen increases in food prices (94%), electricity and natural gas prices (91%), as well as gas (94%).
  • With inflation and the cost of living being considered Very Important by 84% of voters, and the single most important issue for 42%, the issue they want addressed is clear.
  • For a sense of scale, voters’ second most important issue is Healthcare, which 14% said was most important.
• A drop in support for President Trump is also fueling Democratic numbers. Just 39% approve of the president, while 61% disapprove.
  • In fact, a majority of voters (53%) Strongly Disapprove of the president, while just 19% Strongly Approve.
  • When President Trump took office, 48% Approved, and that number peaked at 51% the following month.
• Fewer than 1 in 4 voters (23%) say their income has kept up with inflation this year, while 74% disagree.
  • Forty-six percent (46%) of voters blame inflation on the President, while another 17% blame it on the Republican-controlled Congress.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 800 Registered Voters in Wisconsin conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, April 10-14, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
