Dem Rep Blathers Without Proof That Musk Wants To Bring ‘Apartheid’ To US

Democratic Illinois Rep. Jonathan Jackson claimed without a shred of proof Wednesday that tech billionaire Elon Musk wants to bring apartheid to the U.S.

Democrats have lamented Musk’s role in reducing the size of the federal government and in disbanding the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), leading several members to accuse the tech mogul of overstepping his power in the government. Jackson falsely asserted that Musk, a South African native, has brought apartheid to the U.S. and declared that they must get rid of the racial policy.

“That same spirit that Elon Musk has coming from South Africa and Peter Thiel coming from South Africa! We’re not gonna have apartheid in America anymore!” Jackson said.

WATCH:

Musk attended anti-apartheid protests and concerts as a child growing up in South Africa in the 1980’s, according to an excerpt from Walter Isaacson’s book, “Elon Musk.” He witnessed a dead body laying on the street with a knife still sticking out of his brain on his way to an anti-apartheid concert, which stuck to the sole of his shoes for the rest of the day.

Thiel, who the congressman also mentioned, is a German-born entrepreneur who co-founded PayPal with Musk in the 1990’s. His family settled in South Africa in the 1970’s when he was a child.

The tech mogul, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been a frequent critic of USAID and has called for the agency to be shut down. Democrats have formed protests over Musk’s role in the government with chants stating, “Elon Musk has got to go!” and with calls for them to fight back against his leadership.

Following Musk’s announcement, the Trump administration directed USAID staff to transition to remote work. President Donald Trump directed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to assume the role as acting director of the agency.
