Decisions About U.S. Military Should Stay With the U.S., Opinion Divided on Public Health

  • When it comes to NATO policy, 60% say U.S. military operations should be controlled solely by U.S. military officials.
    • Just 25% disagree and want NATO to have more authority over operations.
  • One in four voters (26%) who think the UN generally opposes America’s interests want them more involved in U.S. military operations.
    • That is almost identical to the number who want more UN support that believes the UN supports America’s interests.
  • When it comes to public health and pandemic responses, opinion is split on whether to keep that authority with U.S. officials or lean more on the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • A narrow plurality (46%) prefer to give more control to the WHO, while 43% disagree.
  • As is often the case, postgraduates feel much differently than the rest of the nation on this issue.
    • Six in ten (60%) of postgraduates want to lean more on the WHO, compared to 42% of those with a bachelor’s and 44% of those with no degree.
