CNN Host, Harry Enten Marvel At Trump’s ‘Surprising’ And ‘Impressive’ Gains With Key Voting Blocs
CNN anchor Erin Burnett and senior data reporter Harry Enten on Wednesday expressed surprise over former President Donald Trump’s gains with rural and Latino voters in his election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump defeated Harris early Wednesday, bolstered by support from Hispanic men and rural voters, among other demographics. Enten, on “Election Day in America,” broke down Trump’s “impressive” performance among these groups, with Burnett calling the results “stunning.”

“We knew that Donald Trump was going to do well with rural voters. I think it was surprising how well he did with rural voters. Look at this margin, we’re looking at a 27-point win for Donald Trump among rural voters. That is a double digit improvement from how he did with them back in 2020 … Let’s dig in among Latino voters,” Enten told Burnett. “Specifically, we’re going to dig in among Latino men … Donald Trump won among Latino men. Why is that so impressive? Erin, I went back in the exit polls, the last 52 years, all the way back since 1972 and … I believe that this is the first time that a Republican candidate for president has carried Latino men.”
“Let’s look at state level data regarding Latino men, ’cause I think this also gives you an understanding that Donald Trump didn’t just do it nationally, he didn’t just do it in one state, he did it across the nation. So Latino men in the state of Florida, look at this margin for Donald Trump, 29 points,” he added. “Why is that so impressive? Four years ago [President] Joe Biden carried Latino men in the great state of Florida. But it wasn’t just in Florida. Let’s go across to Texas because again here it is a similar story. Look at this margin, a 29-point win for Donald Trump among Latino men, again, another state where four years ago Joe Biden carried Latino men and this time around Donald Trump did, Erin.”
Burnett responded that “those are stunning margins,” with the anchor and data reporter agreeing “they’re huge.”
Former CNN political analyst Chris Cillizza said Wednesday that Trump’s improvement with Hispanic men suggests “that the coalitions are realigning.”
“Hispanics are no longer a reliable Democratic vote, particularly Hispanic men,” he said.
Cillizza also noted he sees “no bright light” for Democrats following the election, with Trump’s victory, a Republican Senate majority and potential GOP control of the House.
