85% Say Economy Very Important to Their Congressional Vote

  • In terms of how they will vote in the next Congressional election, 85% of voters say the economy is a very important issue.
    • Inflation is named as very important by 75%, health care by 71%, and national security by 66%.
  • When asked which issue is the most important, inflation was cited by 29% the economy by 22%, healthcare by 13%, and immigration by 11%.
    • Last month, the economy was said to be most important, while inflation ranked second.
  • There was little difference between Republicans and Democrats in terms of importance of the economy and inflation.
    • The biggest gap between the parties is on the issue of Climate Change. Overall, 40% rate it as very important, lowest on the list of [ten] issues.
    • Sixty-three percent (63%) of Democrats consider it Very Important, a view shared by just 21%of Republicans. That’s a 42-percentage point gap.
    • There is a 29-percentage point gap on the issues of abortion (D 62% say Very Important, R 33%) and immigration (R 74%, D 45%).
