72% Say Non-Profits Should Be Required to Disclose Funding From Federal Government

• An overwhelming 72% of voters say that non-profits should be required to disclose how much funding they receive from the federal government.
  • Just 14% disagree.
  • Large majorities of both parties agree on this issue.
• About 3 in 4 voters support several other reforms, including requiring non-profts to:
  • Disclose the names of organizations they are funding (75%)
  • Disclose the names of organizations with which they are doing join projects (76%)
  • Disclose the organizations from which they receive funding (75%)
  • Disclose any foreign organizations they support (75%)
• In addition, a majority of voters (53%) say that if a non-profit explicitly endorses a political party or candidate, it should lose tax-exempt status.
  • Just 26% disagree, while 20% are not sure.
  • Republicans and Democrats both agree on this issue.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 4-5, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
