64% See America as a 10-10-80 Nation

  • A majority (64%) of voters agree that America is a 10-10-80 nation: Ten percent (10%) on the political left are at war with 10% on the political right. The 80% prefer to live their lives and avoid getting caught up in the political battles.
    • This includes 24% who Strongly Agree.
    • Still 29% disagree that America is a 10-10-80 nation, with 11% who Strongly Disagree.
    • At least 63% of the Democratic and Republican parties agree that America is a 10-10-80 nation, and about half (52%) of Independents agree.
  • An even larger majority (76%) say that political activists on both sides are more interested in beating the other political team than they are in representing voters.
    • Just 14% disagree with that notion.
    • One in 10 (10%) are not sure.
    • Most Republicans (84%) say that political activists are more interested in beating the other political team.
    • By a margin of 68% to 17%, Democrats agree that political activists just want to beat the other political team.
    • Just 65% of voters under 35 agree.
  • Perhaps most frightening, among the ~10% who follow politics on a daily basis, a majority (52%) say it is more important to pursue their party’s agenda than to represent their constituents.
    • Just 45% disagree.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, June 10-11, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
