28% Rate Economy as Good or Excellent

  • This week, economic optimism moved up a bit, as 28% of registered voters rate the economy as Good or Excellent, up 2 points from 2 weeks ago, and the same as a month ago.
    • Forty-four percent (44%) rate the economy as Poor, the same as 2 weeks ago and near a high of 48% recorded in September 2024.
    • A plurality of Republicans (42%) say the economy is Good or Excellent, down 2 points from 2 weeks ago and still way down from the 54% of Republicans who said the same in late March.
    • This week, 24% of Republican voters say the economy is Poor. This is up 2 points from 2 weeks ago.
    • Democratic voters’ views are extremely pessimistic: only 16% say the economy is Good or Excellent, while 62% say it is Poor.
  • Only 24% of voters say the economy is getting better, the same as 2 weeks ago.
    • A majority (54%) say the economy is getting worse, down 1 point from 2 weeks ago.
    • Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Republicans say it is getting better, and 31% say it is getting worse.
    • Even more pessimistic, 77% of Democrats say the economy is getting worse, and just 15% say it is getting better.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 11-12, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
